Hacking is the weirdest design decision because of that RNG aspect. Spec on the cyber stat, you'll thank me later. Have fun save scumming your fucking weapon's durability. Wanna use guns? Forget about it, they'll jam at the worst times and ask you to solve this RNG button pressing minigame. The amount of skills you are expected to level up in order to get anything done is insane and the game simply doesn't feel like its giving you the tools to work around these limitations. But its clear to me it started on rocky ground.Ībilities gated by stats is nothing new I'm ok with it overall, but the way this game does it is incredibly oppresive. I like to think SS is the evolution of the DOOM formula while SS 2 is the prelude of the Deus Ex formula. man, I'm fine with it being very different from the original but I cannot say I vibe with this. I recently finished SS Enhanced Edition (made a post about it too), currently playing though Amnesia: The Bunker, played Bioshock and S.T.A.L.K.E.R years ago and recently also finished Dishonored and Death of the Outsider (tho not sure how relevant those are).Īnyway, this game. I'll preface this by listing some of the relevant games I've played so far.
